Job Opportunity: Extended Brief Intervention Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for an Extended Brief Intervention Worker who has the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users, ensuring that they access the right intervention at the right time, in a way that best meets their needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working as part of the Extended Brief Intervention (EBI) team based in Tower Hamlets.
  • Delivering a series of brief sessions using evidence-based approaches such as motivational interviewing and CBT-informed techniques to support behaviour change, reduce harm, and improve health outcomes.
  • Supporting service users from the point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey.
  • Providing structured, time-limited, person-centred support to individuals experiencing substance misuse.
  • Delivering specific interventions designed to reduce the harm caused by use of opiates via PODs or one-to-one working.
  • Ensuring that service users receive a comprehensive, recovery-based detoxification service user plan; including support for preparation for detox and aftercare.
  • Working with other agencies and the community to build recovery capital for service users by signposting to mutual aid and other networks.
  • Promoting carer, service user, and community involvement.
  • Providing advocacy for access to partnership services.
  • Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives promoting recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination.

About You

  • Experience of providing harm reduction advice in relation to alcohol disorders/abuse.
  • Knowledge and experience of MI and CBT and of utilizing these in 1-2-1 and/or group settings with alcohol clients.
  • Experience of completing assessments and being able to identify specific needs.
  • Knowledge of the issues experienced by people affected by alcohol abuse/disorders e.g. stigma, poverty, discrimination.

Salary: CGL points 23 to 28 (£28,557.79 - £32,802.41) + Inner London Weighting (£4,236.47)
