Job Purpose
Acting as a leading ambassador, the purpose of the External Sales Representative is to deliver sustained profitable sales growth by winning new business, developing great customer relationships, and promoting customer service excellence across Maen Karne's, concrete blocks and bagged aggregates supplies to Builders Merchants across Cornwall.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
This is an important role within Maen Karne, with primary responsibility to:
- Proactively identify, pursue, and secure sales opportunities for all products and services across Cornwall.
- Develop and manage an extensive pipeline of sales opportunities to ensure sales targets are met.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure service capability and delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of sales won, lost, and pending using business systems and processes.
- Develop and manage key customer relationships, across Cornwall's national and independent Builders Merchants.
- Plan and undertake customer visits, meetings, and outbound sales calls, ensuring that activity, progress, and outcomes are clearly communicated to the wider Maen Karne Sales Team.
- Coordinate sales activity with other Maen Karne Sales Teams to ensure alignment, collaboration, and the promotion of a positive working environment.
- Attend weekly management meetings and any additional meetings as required by the business.
- Work towards achieving agreed sales targets and budgets, supporting the Credit Control Team where required to ensure timely payment and account management.
- Manage, document, and resolve customer complaints efficiently and professionally, ensuring issues are addressed promptly and customer feedback is communicated internally.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions for marketing initiatives aimed at improving customer engagement and increasing sales.
- Maintain awareness of competitor activity and market trends within the area, reporting any potential risks or opportunities to management.
- Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of all reports, documentation, and sales paperwork.
- Promote Maen Karne's professional image and values, always building strong internal and external relationships.
- Undertake any additional duties reasonably required by the Sales Director in support of the business.
- Adhere to regulations set by the Competition Market Authority and do not engage in anti-competitive behaviour with competitors. (Training provided).
- Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant work place.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

- A positive attitude: Passionate about sales, customers, teamwork. Reliable and resilient.
- Must have previous sales experience, ideally in a dynamic business with multiple products and services.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and/or heavy building materials desirable.
- Clean driving licence.
