External Site Manager
External Site Manager (Multi Rise Demolition & Remediation) – Southampton
The Role
TEXO Recruitment are seeking an External Site Manager to lead the delivery of a Multi Rise Demolition and Remediation project in Southampton. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day site activities to ensure safe, on-programme, on-budget and compliant execution of works in line with statutory requirements, client expectations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management
- Manage all daily external site operations, including:
- Coordination of demolition, remediation, enabling works and subcontractors
- Planning and sequencing of tasks to meet programme milestones
- Monitoring productivity, identifying improvements in efficiency
- Effective management of site logistics, including deliveries, traffic control and waste removal
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)
- Lead by example in fostering a positive safety culture
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and HSE legislation
- Conduct daily briefings and toolbox talks
- Review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Perform site inspections, audits and safety observations
- Manage temporary works, exclusion zones and public protection measures
- Maintain environmental controls for dust, noise, vibration and pollution

Demolition & Remediation
- Oversee demolition activities in line with approved methodologies
- Monitor structural sequencing and temporary stability
- Coordinate asbestos removals through licensed contractors (where applicable)
- Manage contaminated land remediation and validation processes
- Ensure correct segregation, documentation and disposal of waste in line with legislation
Quality Assurance
- Ensure works comply fully with project specifications
- Conduct quality inspections and maintain site records
- Coordinate with clients, consultants and statutory authorities on inspections
- Resolve defects and implement corrective actions
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients, consultants and local authorities
- Coordinate with utilities providers and neighbouring stakeholders
- Attend site progress meetings as required
- Foster positive relationships with all project stakeholders

Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate site diaries
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports
- Record usage of plant, labour and materials
- Ensure all permits and statutory documentation are current
Requirements
- Proven experience managing large-scale demolition projects
- Experience delivering remediation and enabling works
- Strong understanding of demolition sequencing and temporary works
- Extensive experience managing multiple subcontractors
- Excellent knowledge of UK health & safety legislation
- Experience working in urban or occupied environments
Terms & Conditions
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Duration: Approximately 18 months
- Working Hours: Mon–Fri, 7am–4pm
- Compensation: Negotiable / Open to expectations
