Start Your GLP Laboratory Career as an Extraction Chemist

Purpose and Scope of the Role

Tetra Tech is seeking a highly motivated science graduate to join our GLP analytical team as an Extraction Chemist in Bedford. This is a full-time, permanent role supporting regulated studies conducted under Good Laboratory Practice.

You will be responsible for the preparation and extraction of crop samples, including oranges, wheat, and beans, alongside environmental matrices such as soil and water. The role involves receiving, recording, labelling, storing, and tracking study samples, using large commercial laboratory equipment, and working to defined quality, safety, and compliance procedures.

This opportunity is ideal for someone seeking an entry-level role in an analytical laboratory and looking to build practical experience in a fast-paced, quality-focused scientific environment.

Your Impact in this Position

You will support the accurate and timely delivery of regulated analytical studies by preparing samples, conducting extraction procedures, and maintaining high-quality laboratory records. Your work will directly support analysts, study directors, and quality assurance personnel in producing reliable data for client studies.

As you develop, you will gain experience in extraction techniques, GLP requirements, equipment operation, reagent preparation, and method support. Tetra Tech offers training, professional development, and opportunities for career progression within a growing scientific organisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
