F-35 Airframe In-Service Support Team

Location

Prestwick – Hybrid (2-3 days in office per week)

Salary [£55,498]

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will support in-service aircraft by:

  • Analysing inspection findings
  • Assessing structural issues
  • Developing appropriate repair solutions
  • Interpreting technical data
  • Providing guidance on repair and maintenance
  • Helping resolve airframe-related queries
  • Taking on leadership and technical responsibilities
  • Contributing to process improvement and engineering best practices

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders—including design, technical, and project teams—you will ensure effective, compliant, and coordinated delivery of engineering solutions.

Core Duties

  • Resolve in-service queries related to BAE Systems' OEMs airframe structures
  • Develop and issue repair instructions for structural queries
  • Provide technical and/or managerial leadership
  • Define, review, and improve engineering processes
  • Investigate and resolve structural issues effectively
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (design, technical, and project teams)

Essential Skills

  • Leadership experience in defence (or similar) with a focus on delivering customer outcomes
  • STEM degree or equivalent with structural analysis experience (or relevant aerospace experience)
  • Experience with structural analysis methods and tools (e.g., Nastran, Abaqus, Hypermesh)
  • Knowledge of:
    • Optimisation
    • Fatigue and fracture analysis
    • Dynamics and vibration analysis

The Fast Jet Sustainment Support Team

You will join a team of 17, delivering specialist airframe structural repair expertise. As part of this group:

  • You’ll coordinate key activities to meet operational objectives
  • You’ll uphold high standards of quality, safety, health, environment (SHE), and service
  • You’ll act as a technical expert, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight across engineering activities
