Job Title: F5 Network Engineer – Banking Client
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite)
Duration: 6 Months+
Rate: 550 GBP/Day Inside IR35
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced F5 Network Engineer to join a leading banking client on a long-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and automating enterprise F5 load balancing solutions across a large-scale, business-critical infrastructure.
You will work closely with solution architects, application teams, operations, and infrastructure engineers to deliver highly available, secure, and scalable network services. This role also involves leading a small onshore engineering team (4–5 engineers) while overseeing a larger offshore delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and support F5 LTM and GTM solutions across enterprise environments.
- Manage and mentor a team of 4–5 onshore engineers while coordinating with offshore teams.
- Work with solution architects and application teams to deliver scalable and resilient load balancing solutions.
- Perform testing, certification, and deployment of new F5 hardware and software releases.
- Troubleshoot complex networking and application delivery issues, acting as a senior escalation point.
- Develop automation for infrastructure deployment and management using Python and Ansible.
- Improve platform performance, stability, and operational efficiency through automation and best practices.
- Produce clear technical documentation and ensure environments are well monitored and supportable.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.

Required Skills & Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in Network Engineering with strong expertise in F5 technologies.
- Hands-on experience with F5 LTM, GTM, TMSH, iControl APIs, and iRules.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including:
- TCP/IP
- HTTP/HTTPS
- SSL/TLS
- DNS
- BGP
- Routing & Switching
- Experience automating infrastructure using Python, Ansible, Shell scripting, or similar tools.
- Good Linux command-line administration skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Skills
- Experience with Cisco, Arista, or other enterprise networking platforms.
- Knowledge of distributed web applications and application delivery infrastructure.
- Exposure to virtualization and container technologies (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of CI/CD, SDLC, version control (Git), and deployment tools.
- F5, Cisco, or other relevant industry certifications.
