Data Architect – Microsoft Fabric & Databricks

Robert Half is supporting a leading consulting organisation in the search for an experienced Data Architect to join a major data transformation and integration programme. This is a hands-on architecture role focused on designing and implementing modern cloud-based data platforms, data migration solutions, and enterprise data architectures using Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineering teams, and programme leadership to define and deliver scalable, secure, and governed data solutions.

Assignment Details:

  • Initial 6-month contract (strong likelihood of extension)
  • Start Date: August Start
  • Location: Hybrid (London-based)
  • Rate: £650-per day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and own target-state data architecture across enterprise transformation programmes.
  • Design scalable Microsoft Fabric-based data platforms and integration architectures.
  • Develop and maintain data architecture roadmaps, standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Design end-to-end data migration strategies, including source-to-target mappings and data flows.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers and delivery teams using Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Provide architecture oversight across data ingestion, transformation, storage, and reporting layers.
  • Design Lakehouse, Warehouse, and Medallion architecture solutions.
  • Ensure solutions align with data governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and define strategic solutions.
  • Support programme planning, architecture reviews, and design authority governance.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect delivering enterprise-scale data transformation programmes.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience designing modern data platforms leveraging Databricks.
  • Strong understanding of Data Warehousing, Lakehouse, and Medallion architecture principles.
  • Experience with data migration, data integration, and data modelling initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Data Services and cloud-based data architectures.
  • Experience establishing data governance, architecture standards, and best practices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working within consulting, financial services, insurance, utilities, or large enterprise environments.

  • Microsoft Fabric certifications.
  • Azure Data Platform certifications.
  • Experience with Purview, Data Governance, and Data Quality initiatives.
  • Experience with Power BI and semantic modelling.
  • Experience operating within Agile delivery environments.
  • Consulting or professional services background.
