Fabric Technician
The Fabric Technician is the guardian of our building’s physical environment. This role is a unique blend of skilled craftsmanship and safety leadership, requiring someone comfortable working with tools such as a drill and paintbrush as well as managing safety compliance and risk assessments. You will be the primary point of contact for all interior maintenance, ensuring the workspace remains high-functioning, aesthetically polished, and most importantly safe for all occupants.
About the Role
The Fabric Technician transforms spaces through craftsmanship and attentive maintenance. Decorations, repairs, and daily operations require focused multitasking.
Responsibilities
- Carry out professional painting, decorating, drywall repairs, and sealant applications for both minor touch-ups and full refreshes
- Manage the replacement of carpet tiles, raised flooring, and suspended ceilings, ensuring the building fabric remains pristine and operational
- Conduct regular fabric condition surveys to identify hazards and simulate risk reduction efforts
- Develop and maintain technical Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), and secure permits for high-risk work such as working at height
- Oversee specialist subcontractors for major structural and glazing works, enforcing site safety protocols and quality standards
- Respond to ad-hoc requests including installing shelving, whiteboards, racking, and assembling furniture to meet evolving team needs

Requirements
- Proven experience in building fabric maintenance (carpentry, painting, and general repairs)
- A thorough understanding of fire safety regulations, particularly surrounding fire door gaps, seals, and closers
- Strong ability to identify potential trip hazards or defects before they escalate, maintaining a proactive rather than reactive approach
- Comfortable managing safety documentation, including writing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
- Strong interpersonal skills to efficiently manage client expectations and supervise external vendors
- Focus on quality finish and ability to satisfy a varied workload with minimal oversight
