Overview - Kepak Group
Kepak is a global food company serving international retailers and food service household names with prime cuts of meat, on trend food concepts and ready-for-market convenience foods. Our meat is sourced primarily from quality assured farms and our beef and lamb are pasture-grazed for most of the year. Be it fresh meat crafted by our master butchers (such as McIntosh Donald and St. Merryn) or our famous brands (such as Rustler's, Big Al's and John Stone), we offer a total foodservice solution with the premium quality our customers demand.
Role Purpose
To maintain continuous production and improve efficiencies safely through effectively implementing maintenance repairs and responding in a timely manner to breakdown repairs. Ensure continuous improvement methodologies are applied that improves the operational function.
Duties And Responsibilities
- To maintain Health & Safety rules and regulations
- To identify potential hazards/risks to the Health & Safety Manager/responsible person upon discovery
- To ensure all requested repairs & improvement projects are completed and reported back to your assigned supervisory engineer.
- To assist the Engineering department in achieving its budget targets through the efficient use of materials and replacement parts
- To follow the correct accounting/authorisation process when ordering replacement parts.
- Maintain and improve standards of hygiene and housekeeping in all areas of the factory including the Engineering Fabrication workshop & associated workshops / areas
- Ensure all Hot Work Permits and Risk assessments are in place and closed off after work has been completed
- Ensure steel stores / consumables are kept stocked and replenished as required
- Assist with routine PPM when assigned (specific training will be provided) and take part in reactive work as part of the wider engineering team.
- Maintenance and repairs:
- Welding TIG, ARC, MIG
- Cutting & Grinding
- Metal Forming / Bending
- Drilling and Tapping
- Measurements / Math's Accuracy / Trigonometry
- Fabrication ideas and development / solutions
- Construct fabrication Drawings
- Transfer best practice to further the development and performance of the engineering function

Requirements

- Workshop qualifications and Experience
- Time served apprenticeship
- Good trouble shooting and fault resolution experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate team skills with a positive attitude and professional approach
- FMCG experience (desirable)
- Coded welding Qualifications (desirable)
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills essential
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Capable of making sound business suggestions
- Ability to work effectively and confidently under pressure
- Commitment to good practice and quality products
- Communicate well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels
- Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines
- Relationship builder with influencing skills
