Murphy Global Welder – Permanent Position Company: Finning (UK) Ltd Number of Openings: 1

Role Overview

Finning (UK) Ltd offers an exciting permanent opportunity for an experienced Welder to join as part of our team at our Flagship workshop in Cannock.

In this role, you will contribute actively to welding operations, ensuring that all tasks are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the agreed quality standards.


Key Duties

  • Provide support in welding and material investigations, adhering to the required standards
  • Follow standard operating procedures safely when setting up and operating welding equipment
  • Conduct visual inspections of welds to contract acceptance standards and project requirements
  • Assist with the qualification and substantiation of weld pieces for project specifications
  • Carry out daily equipment checks, reporting any defects immediately
  • Work from basic technical drawings to ensure specification compliance

Requirements & Skills

  • Proven experience as a welder, ideally with MIG welding (bonus points for TIG welding)
  • Strong background in welding and fabrication, formally qualified (e.g. C&G/NVQ apprenticeship highly valued)
  • Specialisation in mild steel fabrication, including heavy plate and structural steel
  • In-depth knowledge of weld defects and their causes preferred
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and preheating equipment
  • Ability to set up welding machinery and configure power settings
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Proficient in teamwork or working independently as required
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety procedures (certificate preferred)
  • Fabrication experience is a bonus
