BPP Job Description
Job Title: Facilities and Services Officer
Location: Reading
Additional details: Centre-based position working Monday to Friday
Contract type: Part time and permanent
Hours of work: BPP hours for this role are 18.75 hours per week spread across Monday to Friday.
Job Purpose
This is a multifaceted role, incorporating facilities and centre service responsibilities alongside Health & Safety, IT and general day-to-day duties. This role presents an ideal opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing outstanding professional support within the education sector, within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Open/close and secure the building, including site checks and patrols.
- Manage reception and act as the main point of contact for building users.
- Conduct daily building, room, health & safety, and maintenance checks.
- Coordinate facilities maintenance, contractors, and building-related issues.
- Manage stock, deliveries, post, and general site administration.
- Act as Health & Safety lead, First Aider, and Fire Marshal, supporting audits, drills, and compliance.
- Provide first-line IT support for classrooms and staff, escalating issues when needed.
- Support and invigilate computer-based assessments and classroom operations.
- Supervise cleaning and catering services and support internal/external events.
- Maintain site security, including CCTV reviews, access control, lanyards, and incident reporting.
- Handle safeguarding, compliance, data protection, and security concerns.
- Provide flexible cover and support wider Facilities Management team requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in facilities, property, retail, or customer-facing environments.
- Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to take ownership of issues and work independently.
- Excellent organisation, prioritisation, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic IT troubleshooting skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required - Desirable
- You must be proactive, highly motivated and adaptable to change.
- Knowledge in Health & Safety with a qualification is preferred.
