Facilities Apprentice
The Facilities Apprentice will be based within our Facilities team at pladis UK Head Office in Chiswick, London and will support the smooth day-to-day running of the workplace, helping to ensure the office environment is safe, functional, and sustainable.
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Carry out routine compliance hazard checks and monthly safety audits
- Support the maintenance of a safe working environment in line with health and safety regulations
- Log maintenance requests and ensure they are progressed through to completion
- Liaise with maintenance engineer and contractors as required
- Coordinate with our executive and personal assistants to forward plan weekly meeting room events
- Facilitate meeting room set up requirements according to health and safety standards
- Maintain an organised, safe, and efficient post room
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail and parcels
- Assist with the management of ID access cards
- Support office security processes
- Contribute to waste management and recycling initiatives
- Promote sustainable workplace practices
- Act as a first point of contact for facilities-related queries
- Respond to staff requests with a professional, customer-focused approach

Course contents
- Supervise the facilities management function.
- Comply with health and safety regulations, building regulations, codes of practice and organisational policies and procedures.
- Comply with risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work and apply control measures.
- Supervise others when using facilities management environment tools and equipment for example, plant, machinery, electrical equipment, manual tools.
- Apply sustainable processes and practices, monitoring and solving sustainability problems which impact climate change in the facilities management function within their organisation.
- Use resources to complete tasks, with consideration for cost, quality, safety, security and environmental impact.
- Lead a team of facilities personnel.
- Apply problem solving techniques to create solutions to complex problems within limits of authority within own role and consult line management.
- Plan, prioritise and delegate tasks to the facilities team for completion.
- Use information and digital technology to analyse data to monitor performance.
- Create, maintain and enhance collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate verbally with internal and external stakeholders Give and receive information. Matching style to audience. Recognising barriers in communication and how to overcome them. Facilities terminology.
- Investigate queries to find underlying cause and identify potential solutions.
- Apply financial management principles in department budget spending.
- Apply continuous improvement techniques to devise potential solutions.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders using sector specific terminology through written means.

Training schedule
The apprentice will complete a Level 3 Facilities Management Supervisor Apprenticeship with our training provider Mercury
The learning will be a blend of face-to-face and virtual and will be delivered over a 2 year period
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- Any other subject (grade C/4)
- Any other subject (grade C/4)
- English (grade C/4)
- Maths (grade C/4)
- Any other subject (grade C/4)
