The opportunity

University of the Arts London (UAL) are currently recruiting for Facilities Assistants to be based at London College of Communication in Elephant and Castle.

As part of the Estates Department, Facilities Assistants Team you will use your skills to deliver a range of customer-focused facilities support and premises services to ensure a secure, well maintained and friendly environment for staff, students and visitors. This will include daily premises audits/inspections, a range of porterage duties, and the processing/sorting of all incoming and outgoing deliveries. You will provide a first-line access control/security presence, ensuring the safe access and egress of authorized staff, students, visitors and contractors. You will also be required to meet and greet all visitors in a courteous and professional manner, dealing with inquiries and directing visitors to events as appropriate.

You will be required to undertake First Aider duties and certified training will be provided along with SIA license training.

The post holder will be required to work as part of the Estates wide operational staff on the following shift pattern -

Week (1) 07:00 - 15:00

Week (2) 07:00 - 15:00

Week (3) 14:30 - 22:30

Week (4) 14:30 - 22:30

The shift pattern includes x1 Saturday over the 3-week cycle.

Your profile

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of working within a customer facing environment delivering services that include portering, security, goods deliveries/distribution throughout the multi-story building, event support, service operations and ideally, they will be a trained first-aider with SIA accreditation, along with manual handling and 'goods inward' operations.

The post holder will be competent in IT programmes such as MS Office, email and estate management systems to enable best use of available information and communications as necessary for the post, and conveying information accurately as well as collaborating effectively in line with team objectives.

Crucially they will contribute to the improvement of standards by having accurate and up-to-date knowledge of services available in their related area of work, ensuring that the experience of our staff, students and visitors is positive.
