Salary: £26,436.84 per annum

About The Position
We are looking for a Facilities Maintenance and Health and Safety Worker to join our team and contribute to the maintenance and repair of the buildings and fabric of the Association’s premises.
As part of this role, you will work within the Housing department, ensuring repairs, decoration, and maintenance are carried out to a high standard. You will also take shared responsibility for health and safety compliance across our housing sites.
This Role Will Involve
- Assisting with painting, decorating, and general repairs of a non-specialist nature to the interior and exterior of YMCA Bournemouth’s housing stock as required. (There is no requirement to undertake electrical maintenance work, which will be carried out by the Building Services team or external contractors.)
- Carrying out daily health and safety checks of Delta Flats and the hostel, completing the health and safety checklist and emailing it to the relevant managers.
- Meeting weekly with the Health and Safety Manager and/or Head of Estates to review any health and safety concerns and ensure actions are followed through to keep YMCA premises and people safe.
- Assisting with planned preventative maintenance in line with the maintenance schedule.
- Carrying out periodic inspections, including smoke and heat detectors, fire doors, and fire extinguishers, as required or directed by the Head of Estates and Compliance and/or the Housing Lead.

Essential
Qualifications and Experience
- General maintenance experience, including painting, plumbing, and basic maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge and experience of working within health and safety compliance.
Desirable
- A recognised trade qualification at a basic level would be an advantage.

Additional Information
- The role has a statutory, occupational requirement to ensure the safety and welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk that they may come across using our services. The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk as a priority and follow both YMCA Bournemouth safeguarding policy and BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership and Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership statutory guidance.
- Employment will be subject to satisfactory references, right to work checks and a Disclosure and Barring Service check. If the role involves regulated activity with children or adults at risk, your employment will be subject to an Enhanced level DBS check prior to commencement date. All other applicable roles will be subject to a Basic level DBS check prior to commencement date.
