Facilities & Maintenance Engineering Apprentice – Engineering Maintenance Technician (Level 3)

About the Role
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join MeiraGTx Ltd as a Facilities & Maintenance Engineering Apprentice within our Engineering team. This is a structured "earn while you learn" programme combining hands-on experience maintaining critical equipment and facilities with a fully funded engineering qualification.
You will support the reliability and performance of site infrastructure—including utilities, building services, and manufacturing equipment—while developing the technical and professional skills required for a long-term engineering career.
This programme aligns with an Engineering Maintenance Technician (Level 3) apprenticeship, with course materials delivered at Newham College.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and calibration activities
- Assisting with maintenance and fault troubleshooting to ensure equipment and utilities remain operational
- Using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage tasks
- Maintaining critical spare parts and engineering inventory
- Supporting contractors on-site, including safety check adherence and permit compliance
- Contributing to engineering projects
- Working to high standards of safety, quality, and compliance
What You’ll Learn
- Maintenance and optimisation of utilities, facilities, and equipment
- Core engineering principles in maintenance, calibration, and asset management
- Working within GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and regulated environments
- Exposure to quality systems, including deviations, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and change control
- Continuous improvement within an engineering function

About You
Ideal Candidate Attributes
- Passion for engineering, problem-solving, and continuous learning
- Strong academic or vocational background (ideally in STEM subjects)
- Motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work in regulated environments
- Interest in working towards an engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, BEng)
- Enjoys collaborative teamwork
Essential Requirements

- Minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths, English, and a Science subject
- 96 UCAS points (or equivalent) including A-levels (or equivalent) in a STEM-related discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics), or completion of a relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g., BTEC in Engineering or Applied Science)
- Eligible to undertake the Science Industry Process Plant Engineer (SIPPE) Level 6 Apprenticeship
- Evidence of interest in engineering, manufacturing, and process improvement
- Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to follow technical procedures accurately
- Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Office)
- Team-oriented, with the ability to collaborate across functions
- Proactive, self-motivated, and committed to continuous learning
