Facilities Maintenance Technician (Shift)
Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (Electrical Bias)
Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician (ideally with an electrical bias) to perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks, ensuring building facilities run smoothly and efficiently.
Based at our busy, state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Durham, Pragmatic Park, the successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager - Facilities Engineering and will be a key part of the Facilities team, working on a Continental shift pattern.
Your duties will typically include:
- Repairing and maintaining building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
- Conducting preventative maintenance
- Responding to maintenance requests
- Identifying and resolving safety hazards
- Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities
We are looking for candidates with a ‘team player’ attitude, flexible and adaptable, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be a valuable member of our Facilities and Operations teams during an exciting period of scaling-up and high-volume manufacturing. Please note, we are unable to offer Visa sponsorship or relocation assistance for this position.

Key Tasks
- Maintaining, monitoring, and repairing building services
- Electrical systems: LV switching, lighting, fire alarms, security, CCTV
- Mechanical plant: HVAC, compressors, chillers, pumps
- Gas, chemical, ultra-pure water distribution systems, and waste management
- Building management systems, trend monitoring, condition assessment
- Infrastructure, facilities, operations, and welfare support
- Project Engineering support and contractor supervision/management
- Identifying and resolving safety hazards, preparing RAMS and risk assessments
- Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, spares management, and stock control
- Providing production support
Qualifications and Training
Candidates will ideally hold:
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Engineering or equivalent electrical/mechanical qualifications
- 18th Edition (Wiring Regulations) Inspection and Testing Certification (desirable)
- Forklift/MEWP licence (desirable)
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Significant mechanical/electrical experience
- Building services/industrial experience
- Planned maintenance and repair skills
- Health and Safety awareness
- Understanding of schematics and manuals
- Breakdown response and troubleshooting experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and planning skills

Desirable
- Building management systems (BMS) knowledge
- Manufacturing experience (preferably in sectors such as semiconductors, chemicals, or pharmaceuticals)
- Experience with ultra-pure water (UPW), gas, chemical, or waste management systems
- Ability to work at heights
- Experience with forklifts (FLT) and MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms)
- Competence in risk assessments and method statements
