The Role: Facilities Manager
At Reach, we’re transforming our operations. As part of this mission, you’ll bridge strategic vision, technical expertise, and day-to-day leadership within our printing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Evolution
- Operational Diagnostic: Conduct a full situational audit of our current printing facility—identifying strengths, bottlenecks, and gaps.
- Process Transformation: Assess and optimize Facilities Management (FM) workflows, proposing and implementing high-impact improvements.
- Strategic Asset & Space Planning: Ensure our long-term asset care and facility layout align with future manufacturing goals.
Technical Operations & Maintenance
- Plant & Machinery: Develop and oversee a robust Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule for all critical printing equipment, ensuring 24/7 reliability.
- Utilities Management: Maintain gas, electricity, water, and specialized printing infrastructure—from boiler systems to chillers—with zero downtime.
- Energy Efficiency: Monitor consumption to identify and execute cost-saving and carbon-reduction initiatives, reducing our environmental footprint.
- Building Care: Lead general maintenance of facility structures, roofing, and external grounds to ensure a safe, functional, and professional site.

Commercial & Vendor Management
- Procurement & Tendering: Lead RFPs, negotiations, and contract execution for FM services—maximizing ROI while adhering to strict SLAs.
- Contractor Oversight: Manage external vendors, guaranteeing 24/7 emergency response and full compliance with safety protocols.
- Financial Control: Hold full P&L responsibility for the Facilities budget, ensuring accurate reporting and cost-effective resource allocation.
Compliance & Leadership
- Legislative Rigor: Maintain 100% audit readiness for all UK Health & Safety (H&S) regulations, including Fixed Wire, Gas, Fire Suppression, and PAT testing.
- Risk Management: Author Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and lead emergency/incident protocols.
- Team Leadership:
- Mentor and unify the FM team with a culture of excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Foster a resilient, adaptive facilities workforce capable of handling 24/7 operational demands.
Technical Focus Areas
Essential experience includes all criteria below:
- Working in a fast-paced 24/7 FMCG environment
- Asset lifecycle management (Equipment procurement, maintenance, retirements)
- Utility systems expertise (HVAC, piping, sprinklers, etc.)
- Statutory compliance (Audits, certifications, licensing)
- Energy & sustainability (Efficiency audits, PAS 2060 certifications)
- Systems maintenance (Power generation, climate control, water systems)
- Commercial administration (Budgeting, tendering, vendor relationships)
