About the Role: Facilities & Project Coordinator (Junior Project Technician)
We’re looking for a motivated, practical Junior Project Technician to support engineering projects and facilities management within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The role involves:
- Supporting planning, coordination, and delivery of site improvement projects.
- Maintaining and enhancing facilities, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, food safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Project Support
- Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of engineering and site improvement projects.
- Support project managers and engineers with:
- Project documentation, schedules, and budgets.
- Progress tracking, risk monitoring, and issue reporting.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers during project activities.
- Manage project milestones, reports, and technical documentation.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, and validation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for operational efficiency.

Facilities & Building Management
- Maintain and upgrade site buildings, offices, welfare, and external areas.
- Coordinate routine inspections of utilities, infrastructure, and contractor services (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, maintenance).
- Oversee facilities-related contractors (cleaning, security, etc.).
- Identify, implement, and record building improvements.
- Ensure compliance with facilities maintenance schedules and legislative inspections.
- Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage records for building compliance, permits, and inspections.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work processes.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and UK legislation.
- Assist with food safety standards (GMP, HACCP) and site procedures.
- Support contractor inductions and compliance monitoring.
- Facilitate customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
Administrative Duties
- Process purchase orders and track project expenditures.
- Maintain maintenance and project databases.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and project updates.
- Assist the engineering team with administrative and technical tasks.

Requirements
- Qualifications: HNC, HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent in:
- Engineering
- Building Services
- Facilities Management
- Construction
- Related discipline
- Skills:
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Problem-solving, attention to detail, and multi-tasking.
- Experience:
- Practical experience in a food manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of facilities management, building maintenance, and project management.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software.
- Understanding of UK Health & Safety regulations.
- Experience in contractor/supplier management.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Temperament:
- Ability to work independently and handle priorities.
