Company Description

Wokingham United Charities is a long-established charitable organisation, with origins dating back to 1451, serving residents of Wokingham Borough. The charity operates a substantial endowed fund to support people experiencing poverty, hardship, or distress. It also manages Wokingham Almshouses at Westende on London Road, providing 27 modern, self-contained flats as accommodation for older residents at below-market maintenance contributions. The organisation is a Company limited by Guarantee and is registered with the Charity Commission, reflecting robust governance and a commitment to long-term community support. Team members join a values-driven environment focused on practical assistance and high-quality accommodation for vulnerable residents.

Overview

We are seeking a practical, organised and people-focused Facilities Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day maintenance, safety and smooth running of our almshouse community. This role is responsible for ensuring that our buildings, communal areas and grounds are safe, well-maintained and compliant with all relevant housing and health & safety regulations.

The ideal candidate will bring strong facilities experience, good contractor-management skills and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. They will act as the main point of contact for residents on housing-related matters (not personal care), helping maintain a safe, supportive and well-managed environment. Reporting to the Charity Manager, this is a key role in keeping the almshouse operating effectively.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
