Job Description
Biocomposites is an international medical devices company that engineers, manufactures, and markets world-leading products for use in infection management in bone and soft tissue. Based in Keele, UK, it has global operations across Europe, USA, Argentina, Canada, China, and India. Biocomposites is a world leader in the development of innovative calcium compounds and bone cements for surgical use. Its products regenerate bone and target infection risks across a variety of specialties, including musculoskeletal infection, orthopaedics, trauma, spine, foot and ankle, podiatry, and sports injuries. Biocomposites products are now used in over one million procedures per annum and sold in more than 100 countries around the world.
Job Summary
The Facilities Technician will be responsible for general building upkeep and routine maintenance, ensuring the site remains safe, functional, and presentable. This role also provides hands-on support for HVAC/air-conditioning systems, basic electrical troubleshooting, and coordination with specialist contractors when needed. The ideal candidate is a practical, multi-skilled problem-solver committed to maintaining a high-quality workplace environment.

Location & Working Pattern
Keele office. Role would also cover Trentham, IC5, and IC3.

- Standard working hours (e.g. Mon-Fri, 8.00 - 16.00, 35hpw) with flexibility.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance to ensure a safe and well-presented environment.
- Conduct inspections of facility systems and address issues proactively.
- Support HVAC/air-conditioning maintenance, including basic troubleshooting and filter changes.
- Assist with minor electrical tasks such as diagnosing faults and replacing fixtures.
- Coordinate and oversee external contractors for specialised repairs or installations.
- Manage and prioritise maintenance requests from staff and building users.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies needed for day-to-day operations.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards within the facility.
- Carry out general repair and upkeep tasks across interior and exterior areas.
- Document maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement of facility processes.
Essential Requirements
- Basic maintenance or trade-related training (e.g., general building maintenance, handyman skills).
- Hands-on experience with general repairs, routine inspections, and basic HVAC or electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to carry out repairs safely and to a high standard.
- Basic understanding of HVAC and electrical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt and respond to issues quickly.
- Ability to carry out physical tasks safely.
- Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance issues.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside standard hours when required.
