Key Details

  • Salary: £30,188 – £34,452 per annum (levels may vary upon experience)
  • Hours: 36 per week (pro rata), year-round (52 weeks)
  • Working Pattern: Rotating shifts (Note: Flexibility required):
    • Week One: 07:00 – 15:00
    • Week Two: 13:00 – 21:00
  • Driving Licence: Essential
  • Location: Citywide team supporting James Gillespie’s High School

About the Role

We are seeking a Facilities Technician Supervisor to lead our city-wide team within our local education setting. The successful candidate will oversee multiple buildings, manage staff within the assigned area, and ensure high standards of cleaning, maintenance, and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of janitorial staff, allocating tasks and monitoring performance
  • Supervise day-to-day facility operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance
  • Audit facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs or inefficiencies
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support for IT equipment and software packages used in your area
  • Maintain customer service excellence in interactions with staff, students, and visitors
  • Handle problem-solving tasks promptly to ensure seamless facility access
  • Work collaboratively with other departmental teams to optimize resource allocation

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience in staff supervision, including team management
  • Proven IT equipment/software skills, including troubleshooting hardware/software issues
  • Problem-solving and providing excellent customer service as a core part of your experience
  • Full validity driving licence
  • Willingness to work half-nights (13:00–21:00) to support shifting schedules
  • For roles working with children or protected adults, adherence to PVG Scheme participation is mandatory (very clear research from candidates required)

Preferred

  • Experience in maintaining educational environments or schools
  • Knowledge of compliance or auditing practices beyond standard maintenance

  • Required to join/renew the PVG Scheme
  • Overseas Criminal Record Check is a further requirement if you have lived/working continuously abroad for ≥3 months in the last 5 years
