Facilities Technician – BT Workplace Team

About the Role
Global Workplace Solutions delivers integrated solutions across large multi-discipline property portfolios. Our BT Workplace team provides a full range of building maintenance services for BT’s 7,000+ properties across the UK, including:
- Commercial offices
- Telephone exchanges
- Call centres
- Retail shops

Key Responsibilities
The Facilities Technician works closely with the Technical Supervisor to deliver reactive and planned maintenance across:
- Building fabric
- Grounds maintenance
- Housekeeping
- Engineering services
- On-site waste management
Core Duties
Customer and Site Management
- Ensure high standards of HSE, security, and customer satisfaction across facilities.
- Act as the key face of the team, building strong working relationships with BT staff.
- Maintain open communication regarding the status of planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance in line with CBRE processes.
- Perform building fabric maintenance (repairs, repairs of structural elements).
- Execute grounds maintenance, including:
- Litter picking
- Grass cutting and edge trimming
- Pruning bushes, shrubs, and hedges
- Clearing fences, walls, and gates of overgrowth
- Clearing drives, paths, and car parks of debris
- Ensuring surface drains and gullies are functional
- Maintaining visibility of road markings, signage, and boundaries

Compliance & Risk Management
- Adhere strictly to CBRE Health & Safety policies.
- Report risks, defects, or losses immediately to the Workplace Experience Manager.
- Maintain accurate site records (eLog books) for maintenance completion and safety compliance.
Team & Project Support
- Support hands-on works across fabric, engineering, housekeeping, and grounds maintenance.
- Assist in site projects, including building uplift and refit activities.
- Act as the Control of Works Authorised Person (AP) and assist in identifying Competent Persons (CPs).
Stock & Resource Management
- Ensure effective tool and equipment inventory control.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role OR strong aptitude for fast learning.
- strong health and safety knowledge, including:
- Manual handling awareness
- Legionella awareness
- PASMA & IPAF certification
- Asbestos awareness
- Roof-work safety
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for engaging with customers.
- Compliance with environmental, safety, and operational policies.
