Factory Operator
Location & Contract
- Location: Leeds, LS13 4HT
- Contract: Permanent
- Working Hours: 1,920 hours per year, involving a 4-week rotating shift pattern including:
- Night Shifts (6pm – 6am)
- Day Shifts (6am – 6pm)
- Focus Days (team training)

About the Role
We’re looking for a self-motivated, collaborative learner who thrives on Delivering Results and driving Continuous Improvement. This Factory Operator role offers:
- Technical development in beverage production
- Leadership support for colleagues
- Potential progression into future team leadership positions
Reporting To: Shift Team Leader
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operational Efficiency
- Safely operate manufacturing equipment to meet quality, output & cost targets
- Monitor daily performance in assigned areas, prioritising efficiency & effectiveness
- Drive KPI performance, including:
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Waste reduction
- Quality & safety compliance

Standards & Hygiene
- Maintain strict hygiene, housekeeping & food safety protocols
- Perform basic first-line maintenance (e.g., equipment changeovers, lubrication) to reduce downtime
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Role model positive behaviours, teamwork, and best practices
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., BWS activities*)
- Bridge operations team with leadership & supporting functions (e.g., communicate priorities, challenges)
Training & Development
- Coach colleagues on equipment operation, processes and improvement methodologies
- Participate in team training sessions on Focus Days
*(BWS = BevWest Scenario Training a Carlsberg Britvic framework for improvement.)
Experience & Key Attributes
- Ideally: Experience operating machinery in FMCG, manufacturing or production environments
- Must demonstrate:
- Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes and TPM principles (Total Productive Maintenance)
- SAP system familiarity and experience with production/logistics software
- Compliance awareness of Health & Safety, hygiene, and food manufacturing regulations
- Basic engineering/maintenance skills (e.g., troubleshooting, lubrication)
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and team orientation
- Proactive attitude for continuous improvement and accountability
- Commitment to collaboration and results-driven culture
