Family Integrated Care Lead
Special Care Baby Unit – Band 7 Family Integrated Care Lead
Isle of Wight NHS Trust | Applicants Only
About the Role
Are you ready for the next steps in your neonatal career? Do you want the opportunity to work with a Neonatal Team that is passionate about putting babies and their families at the centre of everything they do?
Our Special Care Baby Unit on the Isle of Wight is looking for a Band 7 Family Integrated Care Lead to join our friendly, supportive, and innovative team.
As a designated Level 1 Neonatal Unit, we provide:
- Care for babies born from 32 weeks gestation using four special care cots
- Critical care and stabilisation for sick newborns and preterm babies (regardless of gestation) before transferring them to tertiary neonatal services
- Transitional Care for babies who need additional support but do not require full unit admission, working closely with Maternity Services to prevent unnecessary separation
- A family-centred culture, with a strong focus on preventing baby-parent separation
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively across professional and organisational boundaries to assess, promote, and support a Family Integrated culture across all aspects of neonatal care
- Collaborate with families at every stage of their neonatal journey—before, during, and after—ensuring their voices are heard, represented, and integrated into service development
- Act as a strong advocate for family-centred care, embedding the philosophy of ‘parents as partners in care’
- Empower staff to educate parents, ensuring they are fully involved in care decisions and feel confident and supported
- Drive empowerment, lived experience, and care excellence among both families and clinical/professional teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
