Family Law Solicitor – Public Law (Care) | VCW Law
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Position: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
The Firm
We are a well-established and highly regarded high street law firm specialising in Family Law and Criminal proceedings, with a reputation for delivering clear and direct advice to our clients in providing legal services to our local community. Our Family Department is busy, very supportive, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for clients, particularly in sensitive public law matters.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and capable Family Law Solicitor to join our expanding Family Department. The successful candidate will undertake their own varied caseload of public law children matters, potentially with some limited private law work. Some advocacy experience is ideal and can be developed.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is confident handling legally aided work and who is passionate about representing children, parents, and other parties in care proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of public law children matters at all stages
- Conducting advocacy where appropriate
- Liaising with clients, counsel, experts, and other professionals
- Ensuring compliance with Regulatory and Legal Aid Agency requirements
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with experience in family law
- Demonstrable experience in public law children work (though experience in private law proceedings will be considered)
- Advocacy experience (or a willingness to develop advocacy skills)
- Ability to manage a busy caseload
- Strong client care and communication skills
- Preferential - Membership of the Law Society Children Panel (desirable but not essential)
