Description
Due to continued investment in our Family & Matrimonial practice, we are recruiting for a qualified Family & Matrimonial Solicitor for our Sheffield office. You will be responsible for working with a range of clients including high-net-worth individuals.
We are open to hiring either a Partner or Senior Associate to lead our Sheffield Family team. We also welcome applications from Solicitors and Associates who are looking to develop their careers as we continue to grow and strengthen our Family practice.
The successful candidate will manage their own caseload appropriate to their level of experience, contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the Family team, and play an active role in business development and client relationship management.
Candidates applying at Partner or Senior Associate level will be expected to provide strategic leadership and support the expansion of the Sheffield Family team, while Solicitors and Associates will have the opportunity to develop their practice within a supportive and ambitious team.
The role is onsite, at our Sheffield offices, with day-to-day reporting to the Partner in Sheffield, and overall reporting to the Head of Family for the North.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, totalling 36.25 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Fee-Earning Responsibilities
- Support other team members with their caseloads to include assisting with:
- Business Development
- Drafting, negotiating, and advising on pre and post marital agreements.
- Matrimonial finance.
- Shareholding issues and pension disputes.
- Private law children disputes.
- Manage and build their own caseload with straightforward matters initially though moving to more complex matters over time.
- Working both independently and as part of a team
- Conducting your own files through to conclusion.
- Use the Team’s case management system effectively.
- Work to a consistently high standard and be self-motivated.
- Be actively involved in marketing and business development activities.
- Ensure personal legal knowledge is kept up to date and new advancements are communicated to the wider team.
- Work alongside the Business Development team to ensure there is a cohesive and proactive strategy for managing current & prospective clients.
- Take an active lead in managing the client experience.
- Build own profile in the market.

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
You will:
- Be a qualified solicitor with experience handling your own family and matrimonial caseload
- Be able to support senior members of the family & matrimonial department with more complex cases
- Ideally be Resolution accredited, or prepared to work towards this accreditation
- Possess exceptional client care skills.
- Be highly motivated and able to add value to the role.
- Be able to demonstrate proactive management of matters with a minimum of supervision.
- Be a team player and able to get on with others.
- Possess networking and client development skills.
