Family Paralegal

From London’s West End, Seddons GSC advises our UK and international clients on family law, estate planning, residential real estate, personal and commercial disputes, commercial real estate, real estate finance, corporate law, employment law, and more. We are a top 200 law practice with a strong reputation for both commercial and private client work.
About the Role
Our Family team advises high net worth clients on a full range of contentious family matters. Our matters are often complex and require sensitive and professional management from our team. The team comprises 3 Partners, a Senior Associate, two Associates, a Solicitor, and two paralegals.
We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic and proactive Paralegal to join our busy team. Providing support in all areas of the department, demonstrating a sensitive and pragmatic approach to fulfil our clients’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Time record all family paralegal work accurately within Proclaim (practice management system).
- Prepare electronic hearing bundles using PDF documents.
- Compile cost estimates.
- Prepare file indexes and collate files for court.
- Complete Form E’s (under supervision of a lawyer).
- Liaise with clients and update clients via letters and/or emails.
- Assist with credit control procedures for the team.
- Support asset schedules when exchanging Form E’s for the team.
- Assist with file opening to ensure compliance with firm procedures, AML, and KYC rules.
- Maintain electronic files, file all correspondence and relevant documents accurately.
- Conduct legal research for the team as required.
- Manage team diary to record all family law deadlines and communicate these to fee earners for deadlines.
- Provide support in unassigned work, especially when urgent requests are made and no alternative support is available.
- Coordinate and assist with any family marketing events, liaising with the marketing team as needed.
- Provide proactive administrative support to the team.
- Support marketing activities for the team as required.
- Complete any ad hoc duties for the role’s effective completion or as requested by fee earners or managers.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and procedures as outlined in the office manual.
- Align work with firm-wide objectives, policies, and priorities.
- Maintain client/business confidentiality.
- Foster professional client relationships.
- Help and assist other fee earners and secretaries across the firm when workload allows or on request.

Skills and Experience Required
- One year of previous experience working in a fast-paced legal or professional services family team (essential).
- Strong academic background, including a minimum of a 2:1 degree, and having completed (LPC or SQE).
- Experience with legal practice management software is desirable; awareness of iManage is advantageous but not essential.
- Proficient in MS Office (specifically, Word and Excel).
- Strong administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage time effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Sensitive verbal and written communication skills.
