Family Practitioner (Domestic Abuse)

Family Practitioner – Domestic Abuse Specialist Team (DAST) – Nuneaton & Bedworth

Warwickshire County Council is seeking a Family Practitioner to join the Domestic Abuse Specialist Team (DAST), providing vital support to children and families affected by domestic abuse in Nuneaton & Bedworth.


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity within Warwickshire’s evolving Families First initiative, emphasizing multidisciplinary, multidisciplinary collaboration and locality-based teamwork to support children and families holistically.

Our team works in partnership with Health, Police, Education, and other local services to deliver trauma-informed interventions focused on safety, relationship-building, and sustainable positive change.


Key Responsibilities

As a Family Practitioner, you will:

  • Deliver targeted, trauma-informed support to families affected by domestic abuse.
  • Work holistically to strengthen relationships and improve safety for children.
  • Use evidence-based approaches to address the impact of domestic abuse and support behaviour change.
  • Contribute to multi-agency working, prioritizing the voice of the child and safeguarding.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across social care, education, health, and criminal justice services.
  • Join a supportive team of practitioners delivering specialist domestic abuse interventions.

Core Interventions Include:

  • Supporting victim/survivors to live free from abuse.
  • Enhancing parental resilience and capacity.
  • Promoting positive parenting and family dynamics.

Requirements & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of demonstrably effective continuous Family Support Work or Family Practitioner experience.
  • Experience of direct work with children and families in a safeguarding or domestic abuse context.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Impact of domestic abuse on child development, parenting capacity, and family dynamics.
    • Trauma-informed approaches.
    • One-to-one/group interventions (desirable).
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding principles and multi-agency collaboration.
