Work Location: Elizabeth II Court, Winchester (Hybrid Working)
Hours per week: 37 (part-time hours will be considered)
Contract Type: Permanent
Closing Date: 26 July 2026
Interview Date: w/c 3 August & 10 August 2026

The Role:

Joining us as a Family Practitioner, you'll play a vital role in helping children, young people and families achieve positive, lasting change across Hampshire. As part of a newly established countywide Early Help team, you'll provide timely support that helps families overcome challenges, build resilience and access the right services before concerns escalate.

Using a strengths-based approach and motivational interviewing techniques, you'll work directly with families to identify solutions, promote positive change and improve outcomes for children. Working closely with Social Workers and partner agencies, you'll ensure children's needs remain at the centre of decision-making while empowering families to build on their strengths and achieve positive outcomes.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage a varied caseload, delivering targeted early help interventions to children, young people and families.
  • Assess family strengths and needs, providing advice, guidance and tailored support through telephone and virtual contact.
  • Help families access the right services and resources by connecting them with local support and making recommendations for further intervention where needed.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, social care, police and community organisations to coordinate effective support for families.
  • Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures, while maintaining accurate records and preparing clear, high-quality reports.

What we’re looking for:

  • Level 3 qualification (or above) in early years, education, health, child development or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting children, young people and families, including those with complex needs and experiences of trauma or loss.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, mediation and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of child development and an understanding of the impact of disadvantage on children and families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, use initiative, maintain accurate records and demonstrate professional integrity.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
