Family Support Worker (Substance Misuse)

Role Summary

We are seeking a passionate individual to join our family team based at our Knowsley service. This fixed-term secondment (6 months) enables you to not only support but empower families navigating drug and/or alcohol-related challenges, collaborating closely with parents and children's social care to deliver a high-quality and consistent service.

📍 Location: Knowsley 🌐 Contract Terms:

  • Full-time hours: 37.5 per week
  • Fixed-term secondment: 6 months

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialised support to families, ensuring access to tailored interventions.
  • Act as an advocate for service users, coordinating with external partnership services.
  • Guide social (re)integration, reinforcing recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination.
  • Adhere to CGL policies and safety protocols, particularly in lone working and health & safety.
  • Work with families to address substance misuse concerns and expedite rapid and flexible interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with partners, including Knowsley Social Care, while attending multi-agency meetings and filing reports.
    • Ensure seamless integration with mental health services, criminal justice agencies, and local community groups.

About You

✔ A strong background in substance misuse, familiarity with relevant policies, laws, and best practices.

✔ Safeguarding expertise and practical experience within substance misuse contexts.

✔ Insight into the unique challenges faced by families impacted by parental substance misuse.

✔ Elevated soft skills, including communication, emotional intelligence, and resilience.

✔ Local area knowledge to effectively direct families toward community-based support.
