Family Solicitor

Location: Rayleigh, Essex
Department: Family Law
Position: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Family Solicitor to join our established Family Law team in Rayleigh. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated legal professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional client care and providing practical, sensitive advice to clients during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.

The successful candidate must have previous experience in Family Law and be confident managing their own caseload independently while working collaboratively with colleagues to provide outstanding legal services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload of privately funded family law matters from initial instruction through to conclusion.
  • Advise clients on a wide range of family law issues, including:
    • Divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships
    • Financial settlements and ancillary relief
    • Private children matters, including child arrangements
    • Cohabitation disputes
    • Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements
    • Separation agreements
    • Domestic abuse and injunction applications
  • Draft legal documents, witness statements, court applications and settlement agreements.
  • Represent clients at meetings, negotiations and, where appropriate, attend court hearings.
  • Liaise with barristers, courts, mediators and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate file management and ensure compliance with SRA regulations and firm procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional communication and client care.
  • Contribute to business development activities and help grow the Family Law department.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) or Family Paralegal
  • Previous experience working within Family Law is essential, minimum 3 years+
  • Experience managing your own family law caseload independently.
  • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of privately funded family matters.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy, professionalism and discretion.
  • A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience representing clients at court hearings.
  • Accreditation with Resolution or membership of Resolution.
  • Experience in advocacy and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Business development or networking experience.
