Location: Edinburgh
Firm: Tier 2 Ranked Team | Leading Independent Scottish Firm
Salary: Competitive Salary + Strong Bonus + Excellent Benefits
The Role & The Work
This is a standout opportunity for a dual-qualified Family Solicitor (Scotland & England/Wales) to join a Tier 2-ranked Family team in Edinburgh, operating at the forefront of cross-border family law.
- You will join a team with a well-established and growing Scottish and English Family team, working on high-quality and complex matters spanning both jurisdictions.
- This role is ideal for a solicitor who is confident navigating the nuances of cross-border family law and enjoys delivering strategic advice across UK legal systems.
- Acting for a diverse client base, you will advise on financial remedy and children matters, many involving multi-jurisdictional considerations.
- You will play a key role in delivering clear, commercially aware, and empathetic guidance, often in sensitive and high-value cases.
- From day one, you will take ownership of your own caseload, managing matters from instruction through to resolution, while building long-term client relationships and strengthening your position as a trusted adviser across both Scottish and English law.
- The team operates in a collaborative and supportive way, offering you the autonomy to develop your practice while working alongside colleagues who are deeply invested in your progression.
- There is also a clear opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the firm’s cross-border family offering, whether through mentoring junior lawyers, enhancing internal knowledge across jurisdictions, or playing a role in business development initiatives.
- This is a firm that does things differently. With a genuine focus on flexibility, culture, and long-term careers, you will benefit from high-quality work without the intensity of larger City firms, allowing you to build a successful and sustainable career in Edinburgh.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
