Family Support Worker
Warwickshire County Council – Children in Care Permanence Team
About the Team
This role is based within Warwickshire’s Children in Care Permanence Team, which operates predominantly in Bedworth but provides a countywide service for all Children in Care who have a permanence plan across Warwickshire. We also support young people placed outside their home.
Our Mission
- Ensure the voice of young people is central to care and pathway planning
- Support Children in Care (up to 18 years) in foster care, residential, supported accommodation, supported lodgings, or with connected family members
- Facilitate family reunification where safe
- Help young people maximise their life chances, access education, training, and preparation for adulthood
- Build positive relationships and ensure their safety

About the Role
Job Title
- Family Support Worker (Permanent – Part-Time Basis)
Location
- Countywide (base in Warwickshire, with possible travel beyond)
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Enter perspectives of children & young people (CYP) by advocating for their needs
- Deliver complex direct work with CYP and their families
- Support life story work & self-understanding of lived experiences
- Use skilled disputation and restorative practice approaches
- Travelling to support CYP placed outside the local area on an ad-hoc basis
- Observe WOCAPs (Welfare Orders)/in-progress reviews— Focus on Attachment needs
- Gather need-based information and prepare recommendations for permanency planning meetings

Essential Qualities
We are seeking someone who is: ✔ Passionate about youth empowerment ✔ Enthusiastic about valuable relationships with CYP ✔ Well-versed in evidence-based practice ✔ Confident in assessing family circumstances and applying safeguarding principles

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Experience
- 2+ years of direct engagement with:
- Children
- Young People
- Families
Safeguarding & English Proficiency
Critical Checks
- Disclosure Check and Barred List Commitment
- According to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all Decisions will be based on the validity of the information acquired.
Language
- This role requires English language proficiency (Fluency requirement)
