Make A Real Difference to Children And Families

Opportunity to joinFamilies First as Gloucestershire County Council expands its workforce to deliver a transformative early help and social care reform (via the Families First Partnership Programme). This pivotal role will be at the forefront of implementing Family Help teams by October 2026, evolving into Family Help Lead Practitioner status with statutory responsibilities.

Targeted districts: Cotswolds, Gloucester, Tewkesbury (please state preference in application).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted early help interventions for vulnerable children and families using a strengths-based, solution-focused approach.
  • Conduct assessments and contribute to multi-agency intervention plans.
  • Build empowering relationships with families, offering tailored support via trusts and creative methods.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies (health, education, housing, etc.).
  • Work across thresholds, ensuring one coherent lead support for families.

About You

  • Ideally, you have practical experience in working with children, young people or families in support roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust with challenging families and collaborate across agencies.
  • Legal requirement: Fluent English skills for all interactions (Form F of the Immigration Act 2016).
  • Vehicles and a full UK driving license are essential (policies: Vehicle Scheme).
