About the Role
We’re recruiting permanent Family Support Workers to deliver early help interventions under Families First Partnership Programme (FFPP) reforms across Gloucestershire. These roles support the delivery of the new Family Help teams, implementing systemic changes to offer continuous support to children and families from early intervention to social care.
As a Family Support Worker, you’ll:
- Work flexibly to reduce practitioner transitions and enhance family resilience.
- Develop coherence across early help, child in need, and system-wide support.
- Inquire about and shape risk and protective factors working consistently in families’ lives.
- Build trusting, strengths-based relationships with parents and young people.
- Collaborate with multi-agencies (such as health, education, housing, and voluntary sector partners).
Key Changes & Opportunities
- Support a nationwide reform in early help, offering more continuity than traditional tiered services.
- No additional workload – increase in time dedicated to families.
- Professional development and upskilling to become a Family Help Lead Practitioner by October 2026.
- Integration with Systemic Practice, using creative and relational family work approaches.
Who You Are
We’re looking for dedicated individuals with passion for helping families thrive. Ideally you meet the following:
✔ Experience:
- Proven track record in support, counselling, social work, or pioneering family work.
- Ability to assess families holistically with multi-agency partners.
- Frontline experience working with vulnerable children and families.
✔ Skills & Qualities:
- A build rapport with challenging families and help them build resilience.
- Strong assessment abilities and commitment to evidence-based practice.
- Willingness to engage flexibly in evenings/weekends and travel across districts.
- Confidence in negotiating difficult situations with empathy and curiosity.
✔ Essential:
- Full UK driving licence (own car required).
- Ability to deliver all aspects of the role in fluent spoken English (required for safeguarding assessments).

Salary & Contract
