Salary: £ 28,598 - £34,434 pro rata (Career grade), Mon – Thurs 8.45am to 5pm Fri 8.45am to 4.30pm. Flexible working arrangements will be considered in line with the needs of the service and demand.
Working Arrangements: Agile Working
This is a full-time role. We are committed to supporting work–life balance, and requests for flexible working, including job share, will be considered in line with the needs of the service. Given the requirement for continuity of support to service users, any flexible working arrangements would need to ensure consistency in case management.
Hours per week: 18.5
Contract type: Fixed term for 9 months from start date in October

About The Post
As a Family Support Worker in the Family Time Team, you will report directly to the Family Time Manager. The main focus of the role is to provide family support within the team, including supervising court-ordered family time between children and their families, alongside undertaking direct work to support positive outcomes for children and parents.
This is an exciting time to join Barnsley Children’s Service as we’re a council that prioritises Children’s Services, and we want every child in the borough to achieve their full potential, to be safe and happy. Because we highly value the work of our staff, we’ve approved significant additional investment, creating more posts to support the valuable work undertaken by Family Support Workers.
We are now looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and committed Family Support Worker to join our stable workforce. Could that be you?
The successful candidate will be innovative, creative and have the interests of the child and family at the heart of their work. You will be committed and motivated, ensuring that children and their families are prioritised. You will have experience of developing positive working relationships with children and families. You will be familiar with strengths-based approaches and will have strong clear professional boundaries. You will be able to make positive collaborative relationships with other professionals and agencies. You will be flexible, willing to work when necessary outside office hours, reliable and able to make positive relationships with colleagues and partners. You will need good written skills, excellent verbal communication skills.
