Family & Systemic Psychotherapist
Family Therapist – Wrexham (East) CAMHS
About the Role
Wrexham (East) CAMHS are seeking an experienced Family Therapist to join our service. You will have a main base, with mobility across other locations as required, working collaboratively with our senior Family Therapist.
This is a full-time, permanent post with relocation packages available.
Key tasks:
- Deliver high-quality family therapy to children, young people, and families experiencing mental health difficulties, in partnership with a multidisciplinary team.
- Lead and develop our systemic and family therapy services within East CAMHS.
- Contribute to a 0–18-year CAMHS service offering extensive early intervention, prevention, unscheduled care, and NICE-recommended/evidence-based interventions.
- Engage with multi-agency partners, fostering strong working relations.
Professional development & support:
- Regular in-service training, peer case discussions, MDT meetings, and team away days.
- Supervision provided on a routine basis.
Responsibilities
As a Family Therapist, you will:
- Provide family therapy, including clinical supervision, consultation, and training development.
- Shape clinical skills within the wider service and drive improvements alongside teamwork.
- Act as a key systemic thinking practitioner and formulating collaborator.
- Support multidisciplinary collaboration across Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB).

Detailed Job Description & Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
- A recognised degree (or equivalent).
- Postgraduate qualification in Family Therapy (Masters or higher).
- Registration with UKCP as a Family/Systemic Psychotherapist.
- Professional qualification in a regulated profession under the Mental Health Measure (Wales) 2010 (e.g., nursing, social work, clinical psychology).
- Systemic theory expertise and applied research knowledge.
- Strong awareness of legislation and its clinical implications (e.g., safeguarding).
- Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) aligned with UKCP/AFT standards.

Desirable:
- Additional accreditation in family or systemic interventions.
Experience (Essential)
- Substantial clinical experience as a registered family/systemic psychotherapist.
- Experience in evidenced-based family interventions.
- Proven ability as a urrent clinical lead for clients/case management in multi/single-disciplinary settings.
Desirable:
- Direct experience with children/young people.
- Familiarity with Care Coordination under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
- Prior teaching, training, or supervision of others.
