Location: Shepton Mallet (East Somerset) – Opportunities also available in Bridgwater, Taunton & Yeovil
About the Role

- Strengthen early help and multi-agency collaboration
- Ensure children grow up safely within their communities

Role Summary
The Family Time Support Worker plays a vital role in ensuring children can maintain safe, positive relationships with parents, relatives, and significant adults, particularly during supervised contact.

Core Responsibilities:
✅ Supervise face-to-face and virtual family time sessions (in line with court orders or professional assessments) ✅ Facilitate constructive interactions between children and caregivers ✅ Support improve parenting through structured interventions ✅ Deliver assessments and care planning contributions ✅ Coordinate with multi-agency teams (social workers, education, health, Police) ✅ Assist transition planning for reunification or reconnection ✅ Monitor safeguarding risks and escalate concerns ✅ Record sessions diligently and provide court reports or evidence if needed
What You’ll Need – Essential Requirements
Knowledge:
- Understanding of legal rights for users and carers
- Awareness of Code of Practice for Social Care Workers
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act 1989)
- Familiarity with social care services
Experience:
- Some caring experience (not necessarily paid)
Qualifications:
- GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths
- Willingness to pursue an NVQ Level III in Children and Young People’s Workforce
