Fashion & Textile Tutor – A-Level & Foundation Programme

International School of Creative Arts

An innovative, inspirational role to deliver A-Level Fashion & Textile and Foundation-level programmes, preparing students for progression to Higher Education while prioritising a student-centred learning approach.

About the Role

The Independent Specialist Art School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Fashion & Textile Tutor to teach, mentor, and support students across A-Level, pre-A-Level, and Foundation programmes. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to creative excellence, academic progression, and safeguarding, with the ability to inspire and guide the next generation of designers.


Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum Delivery

  • Plan and deliver Fashion & Textile lessons for:
    • Year 1 & Year 2 of A-Level Art & Design
    • Pre-A-Level programme
    • Foundation-level curriculum
  • Prepare and deliver highly innovative lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching resources, aligned with the School’s ethos and development plan
  • Manage studio space and resources, ensuring a productive, safe, and creative learning environment
  • Deliver individualised learning programmes, tailoring lessons to meet student needs across Fashion and Textile subject areas

Assessment & Progress Tracking

  • Accurately assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and maintain progress records
  • Work collaboratively in the Internal Verification (IV) process to ensure consistency and quality in assessment

Student Progression & Support

  • Research and identify HE progression opportunities in Fashion, Textiles, and related disciplines
  • Prepare students for Higher Education, including:
    • Personal statement guidance
    • UCAS application support
    • Scholarship and course application assistance
  • Attend trips and extension activities, ensuring student welfare is prioritised

School & Curriculum Management

  • Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and develop new curriculum materials
  • Update comprehensive subject documentation in line with school policies
  • Participate in lesson observations, INSET training, and CPD to enhance professional development
  • Support extra-curricular activities and contribute to the wider curriculum
  • Comply with annual monitoring and reporting requirements for curriculum management and administration

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Ensure a safe, healthy classroom environment at all times
  • Safeguard students’ wellbeing in line with School policy and legal requirements
  • Uphold professional standards, including:
    • Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks
    • Employment vetting (references, criminal background checks)
    • Rehabilitation of Offenders Act compliance – applicants cannot hide spent convictions
  • Actively contribute to Welfare, Safeguarding, and Boarding responsibilities where applicable

Professional Development & School Collaboration

  • Participate in the School’s Performance Management programme
  • Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to align with school objectives
  • Communicate effectively with all staff members regarding education, boarding, welfare, and administration

Requirements

  • Qualified and experienced teacher (QTS or equivalent) in Art & Design (Fashion/Textiles)
  • Strong portfolio of practical teaching experience in higher education or specialist schools
  • Passion for innovation, creativity, and student success in Fashion/Textiles
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with tutors, admin, and support staff
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and safeguarding standards
