We are looking for a female Bengali Speaker to provide companionship for a person we support at one of our mental health services in Withington. Volunteering with Creative Support is a great way to enrich the lives of people with support needs while helping our staff to deliver person-centred services.
We are looking for an outgoing, sociable and warm person, who’s also a good listener. As a befriender, you will provide companionship by meeting regularly for a cup of tea and a chat. We ask that you are able to communicate confidently in Bengali in order to engage in conversations together.
The person you will be providing companionship for is interested in activities like gardening, sewing, and colouring as well as visiting the local market. We are looking for a volunteer with similar interests. If you have a few hours to spare on Mondays and/or Fridays on a regular basis, we would love to hear from you!

This role is for a female-only supported accommodation service which supports 6 people with a range of mental health needs. The service is located in Withington with good transport links by train, bus, and car.
Hours: Mondays and/or Fridays, timings are flexible
Volunteer Duties
- Meet on a regular basis with the person we support
- Provide companionship and conversation whilst respecting boundaries
- Engage the person we support in activities and support them to go shopping
- Report any safeguarding concerns to Creative Support staff members
- Work within Creative Support policies and procedures
- Attend regular supervisions with your supervisor and complete any training provided
