Move On & Activities Support Worker (Full-Time / Part-Time) £13.35 per hour South Manchester, Greater Manchester


About the Role

The Move On & Activities Support Worker for South Manchester mental health services, primarily based in our Lone Parent Service in Wythenshawe, plays a key role in supporting individuals to:

  • Move on successfully from supported or temporary accommodation into sustainable, independent housing
  • Promote wellbeing, independence, and meaningful community connection

Key Responsibilities

The role is strongly focused on active move-on work, including:

  • Supporting individuals and households to explore all appropriate housing options
  • Securing tenancies, and developing skills and confidence for independence in the community
  • Providing transition support to settle successfully in new homes
  • Planning and delivering activities and community-based opportunities to:
    • Reduce isolation
    • Build confidence
    • Encourage positive routines
    • Support fulfilling, connected lives

The worker must also:

  • Have a good understanding of homeless families’ work
  • Maintain a strong rapport with parents (not directly working with children)
  • Be aware of safeguarding and duty of care issues (training provided)

Requirements

  • A passionate, supportive approach to helping vulnerable families
  • Experience or knowledge of homelessness support work (preferred)
  • Commitment to creative, inclusive ways of supporting independence
