Contract: Permanent
Location: Merthyr
Hours per week: 36 hours per week (to include:
- up to 3 x 12-hour shifts
- selection of afternoon/evening shifts)

About the Role
"I am 6 years old and have complex health needs due to my medical condition. I need 24/7 1:1 support in all areas of daily life. I am desribed by those who know me as ‘amazing, determined, funny and loving’—I am sociable with a great sense of humour, and I love stories!"
This role involves being part of an "amazing team" led by my Mum and a Team Leader, with ongoing support from my case manager. Each day with me will be filled with joy, learning, and meaningful connection.
Working Principles
- Calm, patient, and reliable attitude – essential for my daily support
- Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing needs
- Successful settling of rest times at night for family
- Ability to drive our family van to appointments, social events, and therapies
Core Responsibilities
You will provide comprehensive 1:1 care, helping me with:
- Play and entertainment (stories, activities, light sports)
- Personal care (toileting, bathing, movement)
- Feeding and hydration
- Support during waking nights (comfort, engagement, settling)
- Medical/therapy appointments (holiday, therapeutic social circumstances)
- Social outings (when needed, e.g. Birthday parties)
- Assisting with ongoing mobile therapy, appointment bookings, and extracurricular schedules.

Note: School holidays may require flexibility in 12- or 6-hour daily shifts to support my needs.
Shift Patterns
- Term Time:
- Waking Nights & Weekend (09:00–21:00 or 21:00–09:00)
- Afternoon/Evening (15:00–21:00)
- Monday to Sunday (flexibility is imperative)
- School Holidays:
- Flexible shifts, including 12- or 6-hour days for full care support.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Experience working with children with high and complex care needs (e.g. medical conditions requiring arranged therapies).
- A full current driving licence (driving our family van is mandatory).
- Ability to work flexibly, including nights, weekends, and school holidays.
Personal Qualities
