I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Verity is a vibrant individual with a great sense of humour who enjoys social activities such as quizzes, watching TV and films, and planning for special occasions like Christmas and birthdays. She loves going out to the cinema, theatre, and shopping, and has her own wheelchair-accessible vehicle for outings. Whilst Verity does not communicate verbally, she expresses her needs and feelings through body language and facial expressions. Her family and support team play an important role in interpreting these cues to ensure her comfort and wellbeing. Verity requires continuous support and supervision throughout the day, as well as overnight care to ensure her comfort and wellbeing.
Over the course of a day and night, the Support Workers will:
- Provide respectful and compassionate personal care, supporting Verity with her daily routines.
- Assist with PEG feeding and medication administration, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
