Fibre Engineer (Call-Outs)

Location: London and surrounding areas Employment Type: Full-time self-employed

About Us

EDT is a dynamic and growing company specialising in fibre optic networks. We’re looking for a skilled and dedicated Fibre Engineer focused on call-out services and fault-finding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to call-outs, diagnosing and repairing fibre optic faults efficiently.
  • Apply troubleshooting skills to quickly locate and resolve network issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work completed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality service.
  • Strict adherence to safety and quality standards at all times.
  • Strong working knowledge of OTDR test equipment essential.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in fibre optics installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent fault-finding skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Must have on-call availability, including flexible working hours.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities required.
  • Experience handling small cable pulling and installation/damage replacements.
  • Valid documents:
    • Street Works Card
    • SA002
    • Smart Awards Card
    • First Aid at Work certification
  • Valid full UK driver’s licence with fewer than 6 points (age over 30 preferred, but will accommodate under 30 for the right candidate).
  • Proficiency with hand-tools.

The role requires an engineer to troubleshoot site faults, finding the fault location, and recommending solutions to restore customer connections.

The Fibre Engineer will take a lead role, supported by a small team.
