Full-time 37.5 hours per week onshore; offshore shifts operate in 12‑hour rotations
Are you excited by the idea of turning raw geological samples into meaningful insights that shape safer, more resilient infrastructure around the world? As a Field and Core Logging Engineer at Fugro, you’ll play a vital role in our mission to unlock Geo‑data that supports renewable energy projects, transport networks, coastal protection and more. You’ll work both onshore in our geotechnical laboratory and offshore on live site investigations contributing to high‑quality data collection that our engineering teams and global clients rely on.

If you enjoy hands‑on technical work, varied environments and the opportunity to grow your geotechnical expertise, this is an ideal opportunity to take your next step.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Expectations & Deliverables
- Deliver high‑quality geotechnical data by processing, logging and testing soil and rock samples in line with Fugro procedures and relevant standards (e.g., BS5930, Eurocode 7, ISO).
- Support offshore site investigations by performing in‑situ testing, laboratory work and accurate data recording during shift-based operations.
- Ensure all data whether logged, tested, processed or interpreted is complete, accurate and ready for integration into project deliverables.
- Maintain high safety and quality standards, including compliance with QHSE procedures and RPE requirements where applicable.
Responsibilities
- Conduct core logging, basic geotechnical testing, thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity testing in both onshore and offshore settings.
- Enter, process and validate data using spreadsheets and in‑house software such as GeODin and GERRIT, including calculations and QA/QC checks.
- Assist in equipment calibration, maintenance and inventory, ensuring smooth operation of the logging facility and offshore lab.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
