Field Applications Engineer (Relays & Contactors)
Remote (UK) | Regular Travel to Copthorne Office Required
Become the Technical Expert Behind Innovative Power Switching Solutions
Solsta is seeking a technically credible and customer-focused Field Applications Engineer to become the subject matter expert for our relay and contactor product portfolio. This is a highly visible role that combines technical expertise, customer engagement, and commercial awareness. Working closely with OEMs, distributors, customers, and internal teams, you will play a key role in securing design wins, supporting customer applications, and influencing future product development.

What You Will Be Doing
Application Engineering & Technical Support
- Analyse customer requirements and recommend appropriate relay and contactor solutions
- Support customer projects from concept through validation and implementation
- Resolve technical, application, and manufacturing challenges
- Provide expert guidance on power switching and electromechanical systems

Customer & Commercial Engagement
- Act as the technical point of contact for customers and distributors
- Support sales and business development teams with technical expertise
- Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training sessions
- Build strong relationships and support customers throughout the product lifecycle
Product Development & Compliance
- Contribute to new product introductions and future product roadmap discussions
- Monitor market trends and customer requirements to identify opportunities for innovation
- Support product approvals including CE, UL, VDE, TUV, and other certification requirements
- Work with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and approval bodies to ensure compliance
Knowledge Leadership
- Share technical expertise across engineering, sales, and support teams
- Coach and develop colleagues to strengthen technical capability
- Promote best practice and application-led engineering excellence
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Strong knowledge of relays, contactors, power switching, or electromechanical systems
- Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles
- Experience supporting customer applications and technical solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness and customer-focused mindset
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience

Desirable
- Experience working within regulated environments
- Knowledge of CE, UL, VDE, TUV, or similar approvals
- Experience supporting OEM customers and distributor networks
- Previous coaching, mentoring, or technical leadership experience
