Role Overview

Location: Field-based with travel to the Scania UK Learning Academy in Milton Keynes

Working hours: Monday to Friday

Salary: Starting from £50,000

Summary

Scania GB invites applications from passionate individuals to join their People Development Team as a Field-Based Technical Training Instructor.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong automotive technical background
  • Expert knowledge of the automotive industry
  • Experience in modern training methodologies

Key Role Responsibilities:

This role involves creating and delivering bespoke automotive technical training across branches nationwide, including travel to the new state-of-the-art Academy in Milton Keynes (from September 2026) with interim travel to Loughborough.

Daily Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver training both at the Academy and regionally as required, in person, remotely, or through blended learning.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive technical training programs covering diverse automotive subjects.
  • Utilise multiple training methods to accommodate all learning styles.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom and workshop environment with high engagement.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging automotive technologies and industry trends.
  • Provide constructive feedback, guidance, and mentorship to delegate growth in problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with the People Development team to refine training effectiveness through feedback analyses.
  • Inspire and challenge colleagues to enhance their technical, behavioural competencies.
  • Coach staff to maximise their abilities, problem-solving, and learning potential.
  • Deliver technical training (both theoretical and practical) while ensuring high health & safety standards and exemplifying Scania’s premium integrity.
  • Work within a collective culture of trust and excellence, helping develop aligned new/upgraded training standards.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Qualities

  • Flourish as a selfless, motivational trainer with a genuine passion for developing colleagues.
  • Strong ability to coach and drive professional growth.
  • Thrives in a team-first environment where collaboration, mentoring and mutual support are valued.
  • Clear, effective communication for all stakeholders, trainees and the training department.
  • Proven expertise in technical training within a similar technical setting.
  • An established background as a technician with aspirations to transition into training.

Preferred but Not Essential

  • HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) experience
