Summary of Position

The Commissioning Engineer ensures all machines dispatched from Vapormatt’s subcontractors have passed QA and meet customer requirements and specifications. They are also responsible for installing and commissioning these machines successfully at customer sites worldwide.

The role also includes servicing Vapormatt and non-Vapormatt machines at customer sites, including routine maintenance, breakdown support, retrofit work, and operator and maintenance training. All work must comply with current health and safety guidelines.

The role requires regular worldwide travel; typically for 1–2-week durations. On rare occasions, this may be for a period of up to 4 weeks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct QA inspections of Vapormatt machines at subcontractor premises, ensuring all equipment is manufactured to the highest standards and fully complies with the customer’s purchase specification.
  • Provide final machine sign off to allow machines to be shipped.
  • Ensure all new machines are correctly commissioned and configured to the operational parameters and specifications agreed at the point of sale.
  • Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel, either on the machine or within a classroom environment, to ensure safe and effective operation and maintenance procedures are understood.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide support and fault diagnosis for electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical issues to minimise machine downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Carry out retrofit modifications and upgrades to machines at the VIC (Vapormatt Innovation Centre) or customer premises, in accordance with issued instructions, technical specifications, and project requirements.
  • Liaise with internal departments and attend progress meetings as required to support effective communication, project coordination, and the successful completion of service and engineering activities.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers on all matters relating to service activities, providing clear updates, technical feedback, and support to ensure efficient resolution of issues and successful project delivery.
  • Carry out structured and controlled sample processing as required.
  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and inspection work on both manual and automatic wet-blasting equipment to ensure reliable performance, operational efficiency, and compliance with service standards.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with ISO procedures, company policies, and approved work instructions, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance at all times.
  • Travel within the UK and internationally is required as part of this role, as and when business and customer requirements dictate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
