Field Engineer – South Region (Reading/Bracknell/Slough)

About The Role
We are recruiting for a Field Engineer based in the South (ideally near Reading, Bracknell, or Slough), covering all on-site installation, service, and technical support requirements for our customers. This role involves:
- Complex site-related tasks, including installations, diagnostics, and maintenance.
- Overnight stays during the working week to accommodate customer schedules.
- One-on-one technical engagements, from physical installations to data analysis and troubleshooting sewage-related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Servicing (Within Competency Limits):
- Prepare, install, and service customer equipment—covering mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation tasks.
- Conduct final fit-out and testing of new systems in client environments.
- Technical Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain records for installations, commissioning, servicing, and company systems.
- Proactive Maintenance & Liaising:
- Regular visits to clients to analyse maintenance needs, scheduled servicing, and equipment usage.
- Be the single point of contact for client technical queries and problem resolution.
- Provide technical training or demonstrations for client staff as required.
- Parts & Stock Management:
- Arrange quotes and requisitions for parts and consumables.
- Monitor and maintain tool/equipment inventory in company vans and lock-up stores.
- Report usage/stock data for stock control, invoicing, and ordering.
- Operational Coordination & Safety:
- Collaborate with Sales & Operations to ensure product/project clarity.
- Ensure end-client support with full handover information.
- Strict adherence to safety policies, risk assessments, COSHH requirements, and workplace procedures—PPE mandatory.
- Risk assessment & hazard mitigation for each task, solving operational challenges.

Qualifications & Skills Required
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (ECS Gold Card required).
- Construction/commercial site experience preferred (roles spanning multiple trades advantageous).
- Experience in water treatment, environmental services, or sewage systems desirable.
- Soft Skills & Work Enery:
- Highly adaptable, proactive, and able to stay composed under pressure.
- Customer-facing confidence, demonstrating professionalism and initiative.
- Physical preparedness to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in sewage environments—including lone-working.
- Secure decisive problem-solving.
