First Point Group is recruiting for BTS Installation & Commissioning Engineers to support a major nationwide DICI deployment in Manchester or London regions.
These roles are outside IR35.
PLEASE NOTE - Sponsorship cannot be provided. Candidates must live in the UK with valid rights to work. Candidates should be based in or around London or Manchester and be willing to travel if required.
BTS Installation & Commissioning Engineer
Location: London / Manchester
The Opportunity
We are looking for 3 experienced BTS Installation & Commissioning Engineers to provide additional delivery capacity on a major nationwide DICI deployment. You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing and acceptance of Nokia BTS equipment across multiple customer sites, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and in line with customer SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission Nokia BTS equipment including baseband units, RRHs/RFMs, GPS antennas, RF jumpers, indoor cabinets and associated cabling.
- Install, terminate and test BTS-to-BTS Breakout Box (BOB) and ground-level RRU cabling, ensuring correct labelling and watertight connections.
- Complete commissioning, integration and acceptance testing in accordance with customer processes.
- Produce commissioning documentation, reports, checklists and test records.
- Safely disconnect and remove legacy telecoms equipment, including power and transmission cabling.
- Install indoor, outdoor and streetworks cabinets, including rack assembly, adaptor plates, panels, doors and associated hardware.
- Identify and manage pre-existing external alarms in accordance with Nokia and customer procedures.
- Report site defects through the customer's OSDS process and escalate issues where required.
- Complete site call testing and ensure all acceptance criteria are met.
- Produce and upload Hand Over Packs (HOPs/SARPs) before leaving site to meet customer SLA requirements.
- Update customer systems including NDP-d and Site Tracker with accurate project information and progress updates.

Required Experience

- Proven experience installing and commissioning Nokia BTS equipment.
- Strong experience working on mobile network deployment, swap or upgrade projects.
- Experience with RRHs, RFMs, baseband units, GPS systems, RF jumpers, fibre and power cabling.
- Experience completing BTS commissioning, integration, testing and acceptance activities.
- Strong understanding of telecom site documentation and handover processes.
- Previous experience working on Nokia, BT/EE or DICI deployment programmes.
- Experience using Site Tracker, NDP-d or similar customer reporting systems.
- Full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel nationwide.
Desirable Experience
- Nokia BTS commissioning certification.
- Experience installing indoor, outdoor and streetworks cabinets.
- Knowledge of OSDS reporting processes.
- Experience producing HOP and SARP documentation.
- Current telecom industry certifications including RF Awareness, Rooftop Safety, Manual Handling and First Aid.
